Turf Tall fescue; is a cool season grass that is used widely as turf from North Carolina, westward to Atlanta Georgia and Birmingham Alabama to the northern two thirds of Arkansas and into Texas and Oklahoma.It is a course textured bunch type grass that can be planted in a wide range of climate and soil condition. It is also can be more tolerant of heat stress, drought and disease problems than other cool season grasses and is more cold tolerant than warm season grasses.Tall fescue grows well in the spring and the fall but grows little during extreme cold and heat.
Fine Fescue Chewings (Festuca rubra commutate) Creeping Red Fescue (Festuca Rubra) low maintenance, cold tolerant turf grasses which mixes well with perennial ryegrass. Perennial Ryegrass will perform on a wide variety of different type of soils and do well in areas that have heavy use. Perennial Ryegrass is often combined with fine fescue and bluegrass to produce a fine turf. Perennial Ryegrass is liked by homeowners because it makes a dark green turf that rapidly grows a strong root system that allows it to rapidly use fertilizer.
